BIOGRAPHY OF LATE MR. JUNG-CHUN WANG

As a native of Hsin-Chuan City located in Taipei County, Mr. Wang 's family was one of the earliest settlers who immigrated to Taiwan from Fukien Province in Mainland China. Mr. Wang 's father, late Mr. Ching-Teh Wang made his living by manufacturing and wholesaling malt candy for both commercial and industrial use. Thanks to his sound reputation as “THE KING OF MALT CANDY”, his honesty and humbleness helped to make him most respectful. His mother, late Lady Chen was a gracious woman who successfully raised 6 sons and 1 daughter, which included Mr. J.C.WANG, the youngest member of the family. He was his parents ' favorite because of his inborn compassionate and altruistic nature. He had always believed that one must be unconditionally subservient to his parents, respect the elders, be loyal to his friends, and most importantly be thankful in order to be considered a “DECENT PERSON”.

Being the brightest kid of the family, Mr. J.C. Wang had received a complete education by attending Hsin-Chuan Public Primary School, and later was admitted in the dept. of Electrical Engineering in Taipei Institute of Technologies (now known as National Taipei College of Technologies). With his outstanding academic performance and personal conduct, soon after attaining his degree he was invited to remain in his alma mater as an assistant to the professors. While accepting such offer with great honor, he began to feel the pressure of recognition and self-expectation. His sense of responsibility was much praised by his colleagues and superiors.

During the Japanese occupation (1895-1945), Mr. J.C. Wang spent much of his time in Mainland China and took advantage of his temporary residence. He visited several big cities so to have a better understanding of his root. Judging it from now, China had never been a strange territory to him. Therefore, he was regarded as man of prospects in the Taiwanese society when we spoke about the gradual improvement of the relationship between Taiwan and China. It was nothing surprising to him, for he foresaw such possibility long before these two separate political entities actually came in contact.

Mr. J.C.WANG began his life time career as a businessman by establishing CHIN HING TRADING CO., LTD which specializes in importing diesel engines and agricultural machinery from YANMAR DIESEL ENGINES CO., LTD. JAPAN, and power generators from TAIYO ELECTRIC CO., LTD. JAPAN. His firm was later appointed the sole agent in Taiwan representing both Japanese companies. Up to this day a sales network of approximately 200 local branches are recruited in the CHIN HING family covering the whole of TAIWAN Island.

Over a period of 40 years Mr. J.C. WANG had subsequently established WANG-TA IRON WORKS CO., LTD., YEH HSING IND. MAC. CO., LTD, EBARADENSAN (TAIWAN) MFG. CO., LTD., JUNG HSIANG INVESTMENT CO., LTD., and etc. With his devoted concern towards the development of the local Agricultural industry, together with the other Agricultural equipment manufacturers, they founded “TAIWAN AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY MANUFACTURES ASSOCIATTON” and he was elected as its first chairman, and re-elected several terms afterwards. In 1980, aiming at nurturing local agricultural experts, he established “THE WANG JUNG-CHUN SCHOLARSHIP TEAM” offering NT$400,000 annually to respective institutes and universities as a kind gesture to support students with outstanding academic performance majoring in agricultural machinery engineering and related fields. In 1984, in order to expand its beneficiaries to researchers in agricultural machinery, outstanding farmers, and fishermen nationwide, this TEAM was transformed into “WANG JUNG-CHUN AGRICULTURAL ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION COMMITTEE” Starting 1995 it began operational under the title of “WANG JUNG-CHUN CULTURE & EDUCATION FOUNDATION” so to widen Mr. J.C. WANG 's contribution towards society.

Owing to his appreciation of righteousness, justice, profound knowledge, and good command in Japanese language, he enjoyed the respects from his surroundings. Mr. J.C. WANG was thus always considered a mentor as much as a friend. In addition to dedicating himself in the business and cultivating agricultural personnel, he was also active in public-interest activities as he was selected a model of “Outstanding conduct and people”, and was awarded by the Ministry of the Interior.

Unfortunately, after suffering from acute thrombus five days before he rested in peace, on May 17,1995 he was summoned by Buddha to the land of eternal blissfulness. In 1948 Mr. J.C. WANG married Ms. JUI-CHIN LIAO, well educated, elegant, and warm hearted lady who graduated from one of the best girls high schools in Taipei at that time. Together they built a beautiful home with 4 children, 2 sons and 2 daughters, MAN-LI, KO-JEN, KO-WEN AND MAN-HWA who respectively completed their local and overseas college or graduate education. They are now the successors of their father's enterprise and take much pride in managing the business empire that had been established by their beloved father.

The death of Mr. J.C. WANG is definitely a great loss to not just his family, friends, the society, but most of all the Agricultural Industry, for his contribution towards the modernization of the Agricultural equipment in Taiwan should not be overlooked. Regrettably he is unable to share his achievements with us continually. Yet, it is sure that his wisdom, generosity, and passion for mankind shall remain forever a guidance to us.
